A WONDERFUL RICE CAKE RECIPE BORROWED FROM MAANGCHI !

Ingredients:


1 package of Ddukbokkie rice cake, 4 cups of water, 2 Table spoons of hot pepper paste, 1 Tablespoon of sugar, 5 green onion stems, and 8 dried anchovies, 5-7 green onions.

Separate the tubes of rice cake into individual pieces.

  • In a pan, boil 4 cups of water and 8 dried anchovies for anchovie  stock.  Boil for ten minutes.

  • Remove anchovies and add the rice cakes, 2 Table spoons of  hotpepper paste, 1 Table spoon of sugar, and 1 Table spoon of hot pepper flakes (this for the spicier version) and stir.  Cut the green onions into 2 inch pieces and return them to the pot.  Stir well and carefully for another 3-4 minutes until sauce thickens. 

  • Combine rice cake tubes and sauce.
Hot and Spicey Rice Cakes (Dukkbokkie)

This is a particularly favorite dish for those of us who love the fish cakes.  It can be made as mild or spicey as you like. 

This recipe makes a spicey version of the beautiful dish.
