The dish 'bibim bap' literally means 'mixed dish' and is commonly served with rice, sauteed vegetables, and gochujang (red pepper paste), and a raw or fried egg. The ingredients are lightly mixed together before eating.
The 'dolsot bibimbap' variation is the same dish served in a very hot earthenware or stone bowl.
In Maangchi's version of Bibim Bap, she adds bean sprouts, zucchini, spinach, shiitake mushrooms, and kosari, along with the common ingredients for the dish. This is the most traditional recipe I've come across for this dish.
Without the beef, this makes a very healthy vegitarian dish as well.
Maangchi has published her books and DVDs! Read more about Maangchi and maybe treat yourself to her materials for traditional korean dishes.
